What treatments come under aesthetics?
Facial Aesthetics refers to a variety of different treatments that are designed to improve the appearance of the face. These treatments can be non-invasive and non-surgical, such as anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers, or they can be more invasive, such as blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) or facelift surgery.
At Chelwood Dental Care, we specialise in providing non-surgical injectable aesthetics treatments, including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers, which are designed to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and restore lost volume in the face. These treatments can help to rejuvenate the appearance of the face and give patients a more youthful and refreshed look. Anti Wrinkle Injections
Anti Wrinkle injections work by relaxing targeted muscles in the face. This results in a softening of lines and a fresher appearance. They work best when used in areas where lines and wrinkles are caused by muscle movement. This includes areas such as the forehead, frown lines and crow’s feet. They work by blocking signals to the muscles, meaning that they remain relaxed and the skin isn’t creased. The active ingredient in anti-wrinkle injections is Botulinum Toxin A (often referred to as BOTOX). See the before and after results below.
Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers contain an ingredient called hyaluronic acid. Many people are familiar with this ingredient as it is in a lot of skincare products aimed at providing moisture. In injectable treatments, it works to restore or increase volume in areas of the face, such as the lips and cheeks. As we age, fat is lost from the tissues of our face, especially around our cheeks and mouth. This can lead to a ‘sunken’ appearance and cause lines to form as the skin loses its support. Our team at Chelwood Dental Care are highly skilled and qualified to provide facial aesthetics treatments. Dentists have an intimate knowledge of the anatomy of the face and are, therefore, well-placed to provide safe and effective treatments. Visiting a medical professional such as a dentist for facial aesthetic treatments ensures that you are being treated by someone who has the highest standards in hygiene and professionalism, and it is also insured and regulated.
