Is Tooth Whitening Safe?

Yes — when performed by a qualified dental professional, tooth whitening is completely safe and does not cause damage to your teeth or gums. In fact, it’s illegal for anyone who isn’t a trained and registered dental care practitioner to carry out whitening treatments. To protect your dental health and ensure effective results, always choose a regulated dental practice. We use Boutique Whitening gels and trays to ensure you always get a premium product which we know works!

How White Can My Teeth Go?

With our whitening treatments, the transformation happens gradually — giving you full control over the final shade. The treatment enhances your natural smile by preserving the texture and translucency of your teeth, so your results will always look beautifully natural, no matter how bright you go.

Want a whiter, brighter smile with guaranteed results? Ask us about our 'B1 Guarantee' package — a premium option that allows us to guarantee the final shade of your teeth. It’s the best way to ensure you achieve a dramatically brighter smile.

Am I Suitable for Tooth Whitening?

Tooth whitening works for most people. It effectively lightens natural teeth and removes a wide range of stains — including discolouration caused by a dying nerve.

However, restorations like fillings, crowns, or dentures won’t change colour with whitening treatments. These may need replacing after your whitening to match your new tooth shade.

Not sure if whitening is right for you? Your dentist will be able to discuss this with you during your routine check up or you can book in for a whitening consultation (free for existing patients).

How Does Teeth Whitening Work?

Home whitening involves placing a whitening gel into custom-fitted trays that sit snugly over your teeth. You wear them for a few hours a day or overnight, depending on your preferences and your dentist's recommendation.

The active ingredients — either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide — penetrate the enamel and break down stains, gradually lightening the teeth over a period of about two weeks. Only dental professionals can prescribe gels that have high enough concentration of perocide to give you effective results.

How Long Do Results Last?

The longevity of your whitening results depends on your habits. Most people top up their treatment every few months to maintain their desired shade.

Consuming dark-coloured foods and drinks (like coffee, red wine, or curry) or smoking can cause teeth to darken more quickly — so lifestyle plays a big role in how long your results last.

Ready to Whiten Your Smile?

Book online or call our friendly reception team on 0113 266 8459 to book your consultation. Remember: you need to be in good dental health before beginning any whitening treatment. Consultations are free for existing patients and new patients can discuss whitening in their initial examination
