Tooth whitening is completely safe when carried out by a qualified and trained dental professional. It is illegal for anyone who is not a dental professional to carry out tooth whitening. Make sure your treatment is safe and gets you the results that you want, by booking your treatment with us.
Is tooth whitening suitable For me?
Filling, crowns and dentures will not change colour with tooth whitening and may need to be replaced after treatment.
Your dentist will be able to advise you if you are a good candidate for tooth whitening. Consultations for whitening are free of charge.
How does teeth whitening work?
Home whitening involves placing a gel into thin, tight fitting trays and wearing these for a few hours, or overnight.
Whitening gels contain either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide as the active ingredient. This soaks into the enamel of the teeth and breaks up and stains. The teeth are gradually lightened over a period of a few days to two weeks.
How long do the results last?
Most people need to use top-up treatments for a few days, every few months, but this may be more or less depending on your diet and other lifestyle factors. Dark foods and drinks, as well as smoking will have an impact on the shade of your teeth.
